Quail? Partridge?

OK, so I started painting my quails, and had a flashback to the opening credits of "The Partridge Family". Yeah, I know, I'm old. Anyway, now I'm not sure what these are, but I do like how they turned out. This is how my little family started out.
This is them strutting their stuff now!

I've been using spray paint for most of my life, but have never really enjoyed it. However, my aversion to spray paint has been overcome! I used Lowe's Valspar Satin spray paint. Color-Porcelain. Loved it! On the can it states that it's fast drying. Yeah, right. Well, they're right. It dried almost as fast as latex paint I'd brush on. I'll be using this again. And again. I've also painted the lamp, but I'm not excited about the lampshade. I'll play around with different shades and see what happens. Check back!

  1. I love your birds, they turned out great. I'm still not convinced about spray paint. I know in some instances it's easier. But I get the cheapest I can find and my projects turn out awful. Could it be the cheap part that does me in??? lol. Love the birds. Pat.

  5. So cute! Remember the antique pheasants on my mantel that spoke to me at the store? Guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree :)

    Love you mom!

  6. The "birds" look great! I was thinking they looked like porcelain. I thought the lamp shade might look old if you were going to paint the lamp white. I've seen people paint them on TV but don't know how it looks in person. The lamp could be dark bronze maybe?

  10. I think they look great too! Not bad for a $4 can of spray paint and a $2 yard sale find.

  11. Pretty pretty! How does the color porcelain compare to heirloom white? I've seen it at lowes, and the lid color seems similar. I loves me some spray paint!

  15. Great job! You know I can do a lot of things, but spray painting was never one of them. I leave that up to hubby. Maybe I can try again with this paint??
